BASE (Building A Safer Environment) is a community project led by a group of five third-year medical students from the PAPRSB Institute of Health Sciences, University of Brunei Darussalam (UBD) as part of our curriculum. This event is supported by the Ministry of Health (MOH) of Brunei, Safety, Health and Environment National Authority (SHENA), Authority of Building and Construction Industry (ABCi), Jerudong Park Medical Centre (JPMC), Health Promotion Center, Megamas Training Company Sdn Bhd and Ashcore Sdn Bhd.

BASE is committed to raising awareness on the importance of Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) within the construction industry here in Brunei Darussalam. This campaign aims to help create a conducive environment for safer and healthier workers, ultimately leading to an efficient industry through three interventions:

1. A webinar outlining body protection & PPE for the construction industry
2. A two-day online forum titled “A Healthier & Safer Workstyle: Under Construction” consisting of a health day and a safety day.
3. Donation of COVID-19 essentials kit and multilingual educational leaflets on Occupational Health and Safety for 500 construction workers.

What we are looking for:

Volunteers to help disseminate educational demonstration videos for the viewership of construction workers in different languages including Bangladesh. Basically, people to help with video making and/or translation work. Content will be provided by us once the volunteers are appointed. The volunteers can inform us what foreign languages they can speak.
